Wolfpack to play 15 home matches in newly renovated Reynolds Coliseum
RALEIGH, N.C. – Fifteen home dates in the newly renovated Reynolds Coliseum highlight the 2016 NC State volleyball schedule, first-year head coach Linda Hampton-Keith announced on Tuesday.
Â
"We're excited about the challenge of our schedule this season," said Hampton-Keith. "We understand that in order to be an NCAA Tournament team our schedule needs to give us the opportunity to put together a body of work worthy of postseason play."
Â
NC State's schedule includes 11 matches against eight teams that advanced to the 2015 NCAA Tournament and 16 contests versus squads that finished last season ranked among the top 60 of the final RPI.
Â
The Wolfpack opens the season in Fort Worth, Texas, at a tournament hosted by TCU. NC State takes on Northwestern State in its first match under the leadership of Hampton-Keith and her staff, Aug. 26, before facing the host Horned Frogs later that evening. The following day, the Pack will face Arkansas State and Boise State, a pair of teams with 20-plus win seasons a year ago.
Â
From Sept. 2 -3, NC State will take part in a two-day event hosted by Ole Miss in Oxford, Miss. The Wolfpack plays McNeese State in its first match of the weekend, an opponent it has never faced. Saturday the Red and White will take on UT Arlington in its first match of the day before facing Ole Miss in the nightcap.
Â
NC State fans will have their first chance to watch the Wolfpack play in the newly renovated Reynolds Coliseum Sept. 9 against Delaware. The Pack will also host High Point and SMU at the tournament.
Â
"Fans are going to be amazed by the renovations, as we are beyond excited to play this season in what will be one of the premier volleyball venues in the country," Hampton-Keith added. "The renovated Reynolds Coliseum is proof of the commitment our administration has for our athletes."
Â
The Wolfpack welcomes in-state foes Campbell and UNCW to Reynolds, Sept. 17 and 18, respectively.
Â
NC State kicks off its Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) schedule with a home contest against rival UNC-Chapel Hill Sept. 22. Three consecutive road matches follow the conference opener, as the Pack heads to Syracuse, Clemson and Georgia Tech.
Â
Miami and Florida State, a pair of 2015 NCAA Tournament teams, will head to Raleigh Oct. 7 and 9, with respect to order. NC State then hits the road traveling to Louisville and Notre Dame.
Â
Home matches against Syracuse and Boston College prelude a four-match road swing with competitions at Pitt, Virginia Tech, Florida State and Miami.
Â
Five of NC State's last six matches will be held at home in Reynolds Coliseum. The Wolfpack takes on Georgia Tech and Clemson before making the short commute to UNC-Chapel Hill. NC State's final three home matches are against Virginia, Wake Forest and Duke, respectively.
Â
Specific times for each match will be posted to GoPack.com as the season approaches.
Â
In conjunction with the reopening of Reynolds Coliseum and in an effort to establish consistency across multiple events, NC State Athletics has announced new ticket policies for volleyball during the 2016-17 athletics year.
Single-game tickets will be adults - $7, youth (17 and younger) - $5, and groups (15 or more) - $3. Children age two or younger will be admitted free.
Â
Season tickets are also available for adults ($50), seniors/youth ($25) and are ON SALE NOW.
