Wolfpack freshman recently named top volleyball player in the area

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State volleyball freshman Tori Dozier has been named the News & Observer High School Volleyball Player of the Year, after leading Cardinal Gibbons High School to their first 4A state championship last fall.

Dozier, a 5'10" setter for the Wolfpack, garnered Second Team Under Armour High School All-America honors following her senior campaign. She handed out 706 assists on the year, highlighted by 33 in the state championship match.

The Raleigh, N.C., native was also tabbed a Senior Ace by PrepVolleyball.com, as one of the top players in the senior class. Dozier was voted the PAC6 Conference Player of the Year, collecting all-conference honors for the second consecutive season.

Dozier is one of five freshmen on the 2016 Wolfpack volleyball squad, as Grace Irvin, Jessica Kemp, Mimi Marion and Lauryn Terry are also newcomers to the team.

NC State opens its 2016 campaign Aug. 26 against Northwestern State, as part of a tournament hosted by TCU in Fort Worth, Texas.
