Stuart Finishes Eighth In 200 Back Finals At Olympic Trials

Stuart earns second top-16 finish on week
OMAHA, Neb.- NC State swimming and diving's Hennessey Stuart capped off a strong showing in the backstroke events at the United State Olympic Swimming Trials on Friday evening after finishing eighth in the event standings of the men's 200 backstroke inside the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb.
He posted a time of 1:58.69 in the semifinals, as Stuart's performance marked his second top-10 finish of the week after he placed ninth in the 100 backstroke on Monday.
The Wolfpack also had a strong showing in the men's 50 freestyle in Omaha, as alum Cullen Jones advanced to the finals after finishing third overall with a time of 21.93 in the semifinals. Ryan Held and former member David Williams also finished 14th and 15th with times of 22.54 and 22.66, in respective order.Â
Hannah Moore additionally had a respectable performance in the women's 800 freestyle in the morning session as she finished 10th in the event standings with a time of 8:34.14.
After six days in Omaha NC State has produced one Olympian, had four swimmers advance to a championship final and nine to a semifinal.
The Pack will return to action at the Olympic Trials Saturday, as prelims will begin at 11 am ET and the evening session will commence at 8 pm ET. Coverage for prelims can be found on NBCOlympics.com and NBCSN, while each evening session will be broadcast on NBC.
