RALEIGH, N.C. - For the second year in a row, the golf skills of NC State head coach Dave Doeren and former football and baseball standout Terry Harvey yielded a major donation to Wake County Schools' Special Education Services.
Doeren and Harvey finished tied for second place in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge, a three-day golf tournament featuring university head coaches and celebrity alumni competing for $560,000 in scholarship money.
The NC State team took home $60,000, $32,500 of which will go to Wake County SES. The money will be used to purchase adaptive technology for students who otherwise wouldn't be able to use devices. The remainder of his winnings will help fund scholarships at N.C. State.
Coach Doeren presented Karen Hamilton, assistant superintendent for SES, with the check on June 2.
