
Kozeniesky Fires Personal Best, Top Air Rifle Score at Olympic Trials

CAMP PERRY, Ohio – NC State All-American Lucas Kozeniesky fired a personal-best score of 634.5 in the men's air rifle event on the first day of competition at the U.S. Olympic Trials Friday afternoon.

The rising senior leads all shooters at the end of day one with his tally, thanks to six extra points (628.5 to 634.5) earned by a third-place finish in the finals session. The top two athletes in the competition at the conclusion of the three-day event will earn a nomination for the U.S. Olympic Team.

Kozeniesky, a Fairfax Station, Va., native leads the field by 3.4 points, as Daniel Lowe of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit is second with a score of 631.1.

Each shooters score from each day will be added together Sunday to determine cumulative totals and the top two spots.

The second day of competition begins Saturday at 9 a.m. ET with finals set for later in the afternoon. The same schedule will be used for Sunday's slate.
