OMAHA, Neb.- The NC State swimming and diving team continued its success at the 2016 United States Swimming Olympic Trials on Monday as the program had three swimmers post top-12 finishes in their respective events.Â
Held inside the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Neb., Hannah Moore qualified for the women's 400 freestyle championship final while Justin Ress and Hennessey Stuart both advanced to the men's 100 backstroke semifinals.
Moore managed to clinch the final spot of the women's 400 freestyle championship final as she posted a 4:10.52 in the prelims. She closed out the day with a seventh-place finish in the event with a time of 4:09.54.
"Congrats to Hannah on finishing seventh in the 400 freestyle finals and swimming a lifetime best," said head coach Braden Holloway. "She's just been so focused all summer on what she wants to do and working with Gary Taylor to make that top heat. She had the goal of going under 4:10 tonight and she did it. We're proud of her for making the necessary adjustments from the morning so she could be stronger tonight."
In the men's 100 back prelims Ress touched the wall at 55.00 to finish 12th and Stuart stopped the clock at 55.40 to finish 14th. In the semifinals Stuart finished .03 out of the top eight performers with a mark of 54.66 while Ress held his 12th-place spot with a time of 54.90.
"We're also so proud of Hennessey and Justin for finding a way to go under 55 seconds tonight. Unfortunately Hennessey was just outside of the final, but he did a phonomenal job today and dropped a lot of time," Holloway added.
Jacob Siar additionally had a strong showing in the morning session of the men's 100 back, as he posted a mark of 55.78 to finish 24th in the standings, giving NC State three top-25 finishes in the event.

"The team has been really supportive and loud up in the stands the past two days. We're having a good time and are just going to keep things going. We have some great events coming up for us over the next few days so we're pretty excited," Holloway said.Â
After two days in Omaha NC State has had two swimmers advance to a championship final and three to a semifinal.
The Pack will return to action inside the CenturyLink Center Tuesday, as prelims will begin at 11 am ET and the evening session will commence at 8 pm ET.
