RALEIGH – The NC State men's basketball team made a second addition to its roster in less than a week's time with the signing of four-star forward Ted Kapita, the program announced Friday.
Â
Ranked No. 56 by 247 Sports and No. 71 by ESPN, the 6-10, 245-pound forward is a native of Congo and played high school basketball for Huntington Prep (W.Va.). He most recently played for DME Academy in Melbourne, Fla. While at DME Academy, Kapita averaged 12 points and seven rebounds per game, shot 83 percent from the free throw line and 60 percent from the field, while also shooting better than 50 percent from distance. His team finished 31-2, was ranked No. 6 in the nation among other prep schools, and played in the final of the national championship tournament.
Â
"Ted is a versatile and athletic addition who plays with a high motor, is a relentless defender, and can rebound," NC State head coach Mark Gottfried said. "He can also stretch defenses with his ability to knock down shots on the perimeter."
Â
Kapita joins the recruiting class of guards Dennis Smith Jr. and Markell Johnson, and front court additions Omer Yurtseven and Darius Hicks.Â
