Gottfried Chosen for NABC Committee on NCAA Tournament Selection

RALEIGH – NC State men's basketball head coach Mark Gottfried has been included on the National Association of Basketball Coaches' (NABC) ad hoc committee for NCAA men's basketball tournament selection, seeding, and bracketing, the organization announced recently.

This is the third ad hoc committee established by the NABC. The first two dealt with NBA Draft timelines and time demands on current men's basketball student-athletes.

The purpose of this ad hoc committee is to provide the perspective of men's basketball coaches as well as a team perspective to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee regarding the selection, seeding, and bracketing process. Gottfried and the ad hoc committee will meet multiple times in the coming weeks, with resulting feedback presented to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Committee in advance of its summer meeting.

Gottfried has led the Wolfpack to four NCAA Tournament appearances in five seasons at NC State, including two Sweet 16 trips. During his five seasons in Raleigh, the Wolfpack has posted a combined record of 108-69. His 92 victories in his first four seasons at NC State marked the most for the Wolfpack over a four-year span since 1972-76.
