
Norenius Selected for NCAA Singles Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – NC State men's tennis senior Simon Norenius earned an at-large bid for the NCAA Singles Championships, as announced by the NCAA Wednesday afternoon. Norenius is ranked No. 58 in the latest ITA Poll and is the first Wolfpack athlete to qualify in singles play since Austin Powell earned an at-large bid in 2014.
Norenius is 25-10 on the season and has posted an 18-8 singles record during the dual season. The Katrineholm, Sweden, native played at the No. 1 singles spot for the majority of the season and has defeated six ranked opponents.
Of his six ranked wins, he holds victories over Dartmouth's then No. 18 Dovydas Sakinis and North Carolina's then No. 12 Ronnie Schneider. Both wins were in straight sets.
The singles and doubles competition will be conducted May 25-30 at the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, following the conclusion of the team championship, which runs from May 19-24. The University of Tulsa will serve as host.
All matches shall be the best-of-three sets. No-ad scoring and a 7-point tiebreaker at six-games-all will be used for all matches.
