NC State signed Francesco Cascucci, transfer from New Mexico
NC State announced the addition of transfer Francesco Cascucci on Wednesday, a sophomore midfielder from the University of New Mexico.
In 2015, Cascucci earned a spot on Conference USA's All-Freshman team after four starts and 17 appearances for the Lobos, scoring four goals and 10 points, good for second on the team.
Cascucci's first career goal was an overtime game-winner against 21st-ranked American on September 20, 2015, following an assist in the match. On October 19, Cascucci earned Conference USA's Offensive Player of the Week award for two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win over UAB.
On the club level, Cascucci spent time in Europe on Servette FC of Switzerland until age 15. From there, he played for Serie A member Torino FC's U16, U18, and U20 teams, earning a captaincy for the U20s, en route to a national club championship. Cascucci moved to Florida and played for FC Miami City, advancing to the national semifinals.
The transfer joins a heralded class of 11 newcomers constructed by Wolfpack head coach Kelly Findley. The Pack opens play Sunday, August 14 with an exhibition at Coastal Carolina.
