CARY, N.C. - NC State women's tennis dominated in the first round of the ACC Women's Tennis Championship Wednesday morning as the tenth-seeded Pack knocked out No. 15-seeded Louisville 4-0. The Wolfpack's win in the tournament's debut dual advances it to second-round play where it will face No. 7 seed Syracuse Thursday, 10 a.m.
After a slow start to doubles play the Wolfpack continuously gained momentum throughout the match. Louisville took the first doubles finish of the morning, as Amanda Rebol and Claudia Wiktorin fell 6-4 to Olivia Boesing and Jessie Lynn Paul. Bianca Moldovan and Joanna Nalborska quickly followed with a 6-3 victory over Elle Stokes and Abbie Pahz at No. 2 doubles to split the decision. In a dramatic comeback Martina Frantova and Tayla Stenta edged their way to victory, overcoming a two-point deficit to take No. 1 doubles 7-6 (7-3) over Sena Suswam and Ariana Rodriguez, collecting the doubles point for the Pack.
Singles play showcased the team's large-scale improvement since its last meeting with the Cardinals in early March. The Red and White netted first-set wins at all six positions before nabbing three straight-set victories to clinch the dual.
Nalborska's senior experience shined as she took complete control of the No. 2 match, downing Rodriguez 6-0, 6-0. Rebol collected her seventh straight-set victory of the 2016 season in a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Stokes, shortly followed by Moldovan's 6-2, 6-2 sweep of Suswam that clinched the dual for the Wolfpack and advanced the team to the second round of championship play.
Remarkably, the Pack held the lead in each of its three unfinished matchups, Mancera just one point shy in what would have been her third consecutive straight-set win.

ROUND 2
NC State's ACC Championship run is shaping up to mimic its early-March schedule when it faced Louisville and Syracuse in back-to-back duals. During regular-season action the team returned from a 5-2 victory at Louisville to host then-No. 24 Syracuse two days later it what registers as the Pack's highest-ranked conference victory of the season.
