CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 33 NC State men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to top-ranked Virginia Friday afternoon. NC State moves to 12-8 (1-3 ACC) on the year, while Virginia improves to 13-2 (3-0 ACC).
The Pack dropped the doubles point, falling on courts one and two. Ivan Saveljic and Igor Saveljic were on serve with No. 6 Luca Corinteli and Ryan Shane when their match was abandoned.
In singles play, Virginia earned wins on courts three, five and six to clinch the result. The Pack fell in straight sets on the three courts.
Thomas Weigel narrowly fell at the No. 1 singles position. Weigel earned a close 7-6 win in the first set and then fell, 7-5 in the second. In the final set, Weigel was outlasted 6-4. It was his first match of the year playing at the top spot on the line up.
On court four, Igor battled back from a first-set loss to even the match. In his final set, the freshman fell in the tiebreak, 7-6.
The Pack played without captains Nick Horton and Simon Norenius.

NC State will be back in action Sunday, as it hosts No. 2 North Carolina at 1 p.m. and Campbell at 4:30 p.m. at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center.
