Junior becomes the first All-American in Wolfpack history since 1975
AKRON, Ohio – NC State's Lucas Kozeniesky has been named an All-American by the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) and the National Rifle Association (NRA), as announced by both organizations. The Wolfpack shooter turned in a stellar junior season, highlighted by finishing fifth in the air rifle competition at the NCAA Championships last weekend.
Â
Kozeniesky was tabbed a second team All-America selection in air rifle and smallbore by the NRA and a third team All-American by the CRCA for aggregate total. The awards are based on a shooter's average in the disciplines for the full season.

Â
He becomes the first NC State rifle All-American since William Thomas claimed the honor in 1975.
Â
The Fairfax Station, Va., native completed the season with an air rifle average of 591.467, highlighted by matching the program record with a score of 596 at the NCAA Championships, the highest score fired in the air rifle event.

Â
In smallbore, Kozeniesky charted a season average of 581.385. He set the program record in the competition with a score of 591 in the Wolfpack's upset of No. 3 Kentucky on Jan. 17.
Â
For combined aggregate score, the junior averaged an 1172.846 per match. He also broke the program record for total combined score against No. 3 Kentucky with an 1185 clip.
Â
The CRCA All-America awards are composed of five-person teams, as Kozeniesky is among the top 15 for combined average. The NRA All-America awards are 10-person teams, so he is among the top 20 for both air rifle and smallbore.

Â
Kozeniesky's standout junior season has yielded several accolades, as he was named a first team All-Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) selection in all three disciplines and he was the individual champion in air rifle at the Southeastern Air Rifle Conference (SEARC) Championships to claim all-conference honors.
Â
In addition to qualifying for the NCAA Championships, he also competed at the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup in Thailand and he is still in contention to earn a spot on the USA team for the Rio Olympics.
