Burkett Tabs ACC Male Swimmer Of The Week Honor

He earned two individual wins last weekend

GREENSBORO, N.C.- After a strong individual performance last weekend in Chapel Hill, freshman Jon Burkett was named ACC Male Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

This marks the first conference honor of his career.

At the Carolina College Invitational last weekend, hosted by UNC-CH, Burkett posted career-best and NCAA 'B' standard times in the 100 butterfly (46.63) and 100 backstroke (47.48).

He won both events, as his 100 fly performance marks the third-fastest time in program history and his 100 back time stands as the fourth-fastest mark in NC State's record book.

In addition to his strong showing for the Wolfpack, the Medford, N.J., native turned in career-best marks in the 200 individual medley (1:51.51) and 200 fly (1:48.84).

NC State will return to action when it heads to Greensboro, N.C., for the ACC Women's Swimming/Men's and Women's Diving Championships Feb. 17-20 inside Greensboro Aquatic Center.
