NC State’s women are listed at seventh
Â
RALEIGH- After capturing its second-straight ACC Championship title on Saturday night in Greensboro, N.C., the NC State men's swimming and diving team checks in at No. 1 in the latest collegeswimming.com poll.Â
The Wolfpack women are additionally listed at No. 7 in its respective poll after taking the runner-up spot at its ACC Championships two weeks ago behind Virginia, who sits at fourth in the latest rankings.Â
This marks the highest listing for both programs this season, as well as the highest rankings in the Braden Holloway era.Â
For the swimming and diving program, it has been almost three and-a-half decades since NC State has seen this amount of success among its athletes and coaches, as head coach Holloway and his staff have molded both programs into top 10 nationally-ranked teams.Â
For the women, the team's second-place finish was the highest since 1982, while the last time the men have won back-to-back titles was in 1981 and '82 under Hall of Famer Don Easterling.
The Wolfpack now awaits final individual selections for the NCAA Championships, as both teams have potential for a strong presence at the national meet. The women's championship will run March 16-19 while the men's is set for March 23-26, as they will be held inside Georgia Tech's aquatic center.
