No. 25 NC State Splits Final Two Weekend Matches

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State concluded its weekend with a win over UNC Greensboro. The Pack dropped a match to No. 55 ODU before defeating UNCG. NC State concludes it weekend with a 10-6 record.
No. 25 NC State 1 No. 55 Old Dominion 4
The Pack dropped its third match in a row with a home defeat to No. 55 ODU. The Monarchs took the doubles point and carried momentum into the singles, winning on courts four, five, and six. ODU has won eight straight.
NC State dropped the doubles point after losses on courts one and two. The Pack switched up its doubles' tandems, debuting Nick Horton Thomas Weigel on court two and Simon Norenius and Michael Ogden on court three.
Norenius and Ogden picked up the Pack's lone doubles win (6-4 court two). Ivan Saveljic and Igor Saveljic narrowly lost 7-6(7-5) on court 1. The duo broke back to tie the match at six before No. 43 Adam Moundir and Aziz Kijametovic won in the breaker.
In singles, ODU earned it points from the bottom of the lineup. Zvonimir Podvinski added the clincher on court five.
No. 83 Norenius was the bright spot for the Pack in the loss, defeating No. 108 Adam Moundir, 6-3, 6-4, for his fourth win over a ranked opponent this season.

NC State extended its wining streak to nine-consecutive matches over UNC-G with a 6-1 win to concluded the four-match weekend.
The Spartans struck first with the doubles win. Norenius and Ogden won their second-consecutive doubles match before the Pack fell on courts one and two.
NC State once again relied on its captains for clinching points, as Norenius, Weigel and Horton added singles wins. Shoti Meparidze also helped clinch the match, getting back to winning ways with a 6-0, 6-3 win on court six.
Ivan and Igor also added singles wins with three-set victories on their respective courts.
Weigel and Norenius both conclude the weekend with a win over a ranked opponent. Thomas Weigel went 2-1, and Norenius 3-1 on the weekend.
Up Next:
NC State will be back in action next weekend, as it opens its ACC schedule. The Pack will face Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., Friday and head to Wake Forest Sunday.
