Senior Pins Nation’s Fourth-Ranked Wrestler at NWCA All-Star Classic
GREENSBORO, N.C. - NC State senior Max Rohskopf (Kilbuck, Ohio) was named the inaugural Atlantic Coast Conference 2016-17 Wrestler of the Week after recording the lone pin of the NWCA All-Star Classic last Saturday night in Cleveland, Ohio. He was also the lone ACC wrestler to win his bout at the All-Star Classic.
Rohskopf, competing at 157 pounds, a weight class lower than a year ago, countered a takedown with a pin of Michigan's Brian Murphy at the 5:43 mark of their match. Murphy was the nation's fourth-ranked wrestler according to InterMat.
Starting the season ranked fifth nationally by InterMat, Rohskopf was making his second consecutive appearance in the prestigious All-Star Classic. He also won his second straight match in the All-Star Classic. Last year he defeated Clark Glass of Oklahoma. He was the 2016 ACC champion at 165.
