Wolfpack women listed at No. 6
RALEIGH- The NC State men's swimming and diving program continues its meteoric rise in the NCAA by topping the latest College Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, as released by the committee Wednesday morning.Â
The Wolfpack men took down two-time defending national champion Texas last weekend, marking their second win over a top 25 team this season. The team holds a 3-0 record in dual meet action, and this is the first time in program history the Pack has been listed No. 1 in the coaches poll.Â
The women's program is listed at No. 6 in this week's poll, moving down two spots from the initial listing. Despite the slight drop this marks the first time in program history the Wolfpack women have been listed among the top 10 of the national rankings in back-to-back weeks. The team holds a 2-1 ledger on the season with two wins over top 25 opponents.Â
In the conference standings the Pack joins five other teams that are listed among the top 25 of the men's poll (No. 10 Louisville, No. 12 Virginia Tech, No. 16 Virginia, No 21 Notre Dame and No. 24 Georgia Tech), while Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill are receiving votes.
On the women's side Virginia leads the ACC at No. 3, giving NC State the second-highest ranking among the conference. Louisville (No. 8), Duke (No. 15), Notre Dame (No. 19), UNC-Chapel Hill (No. 20) and Virginia Tech (No. 25) are all ranked in the latest poll while Florida State is receiving votes.Â
NC State will return to action next weekend when it hosts the NC State GAC Invite Nov. 17-19 inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
