GREENSBORO, N.C. - Running back Matthew Dayes and offensive guard Tony Adams have both been named second-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference selections, as voted upon by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association (ACSMA). Defensive end Bradley Chubb was named to the third-team all-conference squad.
Dayes ranks third in the ACC with 1,119 rushing yards entering the Pack's bowl game. He became the first Wolfpack player to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season since 2002. Dayes' eight 100+ yard rushing games this season are the most for a Wolfpack player in a single season since Ted Brown had nine in 1977. He also leads the Pack with 10 rushing TDs and ranks fourth on the team with 31 receptions.
Adams has started all 12 games at right guard for the Pack this season, while playing almost 97% of the team's offensive snaps. A preseason candidate for the Wuerffel Trophy, Adams has not allowed a sack in his third season as a starter.
Chubb is tied for the conference lead with 21.0 tackles for loss this season, a mark that places him second nationally. He has posted a tackle for loss in each of the past six games, and in 10 of the 12 games this season. Chubb also ranks fifth in the ACC in sacks with 9.5, a mark that ranks 15th nationally. He was named the ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week for the Wolfpack's win over Notre Dame, when he tallied 3.5 tackles for loss, including three sacks.
In addition, three Wolfpack players were named honorable mention All-ACC. Junior Jaylen Samuels, a first-team all-conference choice in 2015, earned mention at tight end. Samuels currently leads the Pack with 49 receptions on the season, and is tied for the team lead with 10 touchdowns (with Dayes) - six rushing, four receiving. Graduate transfer center Joe Scelfo, who led the Pack in knockdown blocks and played 99% of the teams total snaps, and leading tackler Josh Jones were also named honorable mention choices. Scelfo was recently named the ACC's Offensive Linemane of the Week after his performance in the win at North Carolina, and Jones is sixth in the ACC with his 106 tackles.
