NC State and Virginia to meet for the only time in 2016

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team will have the luxury of playing its final three matches of the 2016 season at home, starting with a matchup with the Virginia Cavaliers Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. inside Reynolds Coliseum.

The contest will be broadcast live on the ACC Network Extra.

NC State enters the match with a 17-12 overall record and a 10-7 mark in conference play, while Virginia has had a tough season with a tally of 7-22, including a 4-13 clip against league opponents.

Last Time Out
In its last outing, the Wolfpack was swept by No. 6 UNC-Chapel Hill on the Tar Heels home court, despite holding the squad without a service ace for the first time since 2013.

The Virginia Cavaliers have had a difficult 2016 season, as the squad has managed just a 7-22 record and a 4-13 mark in ACC action. UVA was swept by No. 6 UNC-Chapel Hill in its most recent outing Friday evening.

NC State and Virginia met only once last season with the Cavs earning a 3-0 victory on their home court. The teams have only met once in each of the past three seasons, but the Wolfpack swept both matchups during the 2013 season.

Haley Kole leads the team offensively with 3.41 kills per set, while Jasmine Burton is second on the squad with 2.80 kps. At setter, Jennifer Wineholt has dished out 881 assists, an average of 9.27 assists per set. Defensively, libero Lexi Riccolo headlines the group with 3.92 digs per set.

Virginia owns a team attacking percentage of .190 and opponents have been held to a .237 clip. The Cavaliers average 11.61 kills per set and their opponents earn 13.52 kps.

NC State is among the top five of the ACC in four team categories. The Wolfpack is fourth with 12.71 assists per set, fourth in digs per set with 15.52 and fifth in kills per set (13.32).

Julia Brown is third in the ACC with 4.02 kills per set, while Maggie Speaks is fifth in the league with 10.44 assists per set.

Rachel Eppley, the squad's senior libero, leads the Wolfpack and is eighth in the conference with 4.15 digs per set.
