Horton Splits Matches at ITA All-America Championships

TULSA, Okla. - No. 39 Nick Horton split his final two matches at the ITA All-American Championships on Saturday. Horton concluded his run in consolation quarterfinals, finishing the tournament with a 2-2 record.
Horton earned a win in the consolation round of 16 against No. 44 Strong Kirchheimer, winning 7-5, 6-2. The win marks his first over a ranked opponent this season.
He then advanced to the quarterfinals where he faced his second top-12 opponent of the competition, squaring off against No. 10 Ronnie Schneider. Horton bowed out of the competition, dropping a 6-4, 6-4 decision.
The Australian opened his season with a 2-2 record and a ranked victory. He will return to NC State, as he prepares for the ITA Carolina Regional Championships. Last year, Horton won the ITA Carolina Region doubles title.
