Wolfpack Volleyball Turns Away Hurricanes, 3-1

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team picked up its third Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) victory this season with a 3-1 win against the Miami Hurricanes Friday night inside Reynolds Coliseum.

The Wolfpack improves to 10-7 and 3-2 in ACC play, while the Hurricanes fall to 7-10 and 1-4 in conference action.

Match Rewind
- NC State opened the match strong, racing out to a 5-1 lead in the first set after an attacking error by Miami.
- After the Hurricanes battled back in the set to grab a 16-15 lead, the Wolfpack countered by winning six of the next seven rallies to take a 21-17 advantage, resulting in a 'Canes timeout.
- Becky Porter and Kaitlyn Kearney teamed up on the block to give NC State set point, 24-21, and Julia Brown finished it off with a kill to give the Pack a 25-22 first-set win.
- NCSU recorded an attacking percentage of .219 in the frame, while holding Miami to a .062 clip.
- The second set was an absolute battle and had to be decided with extra points, as the Wolfpack outlasted the Hurricanes, 28-26.
- The Red and White was poised to take control of the frame following a 5-0 run to grab a 10-6 lead, but Miami fought back in the set.
- Heading down the stretch, the Wolfpack had four set point opportunities before it was able to convert to win the set after back-to-back kills by Brown.
- Miami put together a strong third set to cut the NC State lead in the overall match to 2-1, but the Pack gained some momentum at the end of the frame and carried it to the fourth.
- NC State's offense was very impressive in the fourth set with a team hitting percentage of .326 to go along with 18 kills on 43 swings.
- The Pack jumped out to a 5-1 lead and later stretched it to 12-7, resulting in Miami timeouts at each point.
- NC State closed out the set on an 8-2 run to earn the 25-14 set win.

- Brown headlined the Wolfpack offense with 18 kills, while Teni Sopitan put down 15 kills.
- Erin Chatman tallied 10 kills and Kearney pitched in with seven.
- At the setter position, Maggie Speaks was unable to play in the contest due to an illness and Porter made the start, handing out a match-high 49 assists.
- Defensively, Rachel Eppley led all players with 23 digs, while Brown pitched in with 13 digs to record her eighth double-double performance.
