RALEIGH, N.C. – Nick Horton from the NC State men's tennis team will head to Tulsa, Okla., for the ITA All-American Championships main draw set to begin Oct. 6th. The event will mark his fall season and senior year debut for NC State.
The Australian wrapped up an impressive summer with the Cary ATP Championships a few weeks ago with a match in the main draw. Before the Cary challenger, he played in Futures throughout Europe, winning five main-draw singles matches. The successful summer spurred a nearly 300-place improvement in the ITF World Standings.
He enters the fall season at No. 39 in the ITA standings and is coming off at least 20-win seasons in all three of his previous years with the Pack.
Horton will begin his ITA AA campaign Oct. 6th with a main draw match up. Draws will be released as competitors advance through the pre-qualifying and qualifying stages.
In addition to being a great opportunity for competition, the championships serve as a path to the national championships later in the fall. Singles quarter finalists, doubles finalists and consolation champions will receive an automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships on Nov. 3-6, held at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, New York.
Tulsa is hosting the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships at the state-of-the-art Michael D. Case Tennis Center for the 12th straight year.
