Wolfpack Rifle Takes Down No. 14 Navy in GARC Match

CHARLESTON, S.C. – For the second consecutive weekend, the 10th-ranked NC State rifle team earned a Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) win, as the squad defeated No. 14 Navy Saturday afternoon inside the Inuoye Marksmanship Center.

The Wolfpack also defeated The Citadel at the match with NC State firing a team score of 4655, Navy a 4625 clip and the host Bulldogs notched a team score of 4493.

NC State improves to 5-2 overall and 2-1 in GARC competition, while Navy moves to 6-3 and 0-3 in league action.

Worth Noting
- Senior Lucas Kozeniesky had a great day for NC State, as he fired the top score in air rifle, smallbore and total aggregate.
- He charted a score of 596 in air rifle and a 586 in smallbore to achieve an aggregate mark of 1182.
- The win marks the second consecutive year that NC State has collected a GARC win against Navy.
- NC State's entire roster competed in the match, highlighted by Sarah Hickey's collegiate debut and season debuts for Claire Spina and George Williams.
- Freshman Zach Eisenberg had a strong match, recording personal bests in all three events. He earned a 571 in smallbore and a 584 in air rifle for an aggregate total of 1155.
- Claire Spina, Tyler Lefebvre and William Marciniak all notched career highs in air rifle with scores of 579, 578 and 576, respectively.

- NC State earned a team total of 2297 in the smallbore competition, thanks to a match-high score of 586 by Kozeniesky.
- The Fairfax, Va., native tallied a perfect 100 on his first series of prone and recorded a 99 in his second series en route to achieving his score.
- Graduate student Lauren Phillips fired the next-best score with a 579 clip to finish third, highlighted by a 99 on her first series in the standing position.
- Derya Pekari charted a 567 and William Marciniak logged a score of 565.
- Rounding out the counting lineup for the Wolfpack was Caitlyn Ford with a score of 564.

- Eisenberg charted the best score among NC State's non-counting shooters with a 571 in smallbore, while classmate Claire Zanti tallied a 570.
- Other Wolfpack shooters in the event were Hickey (569), Marciniak (565), Lefebvre (558), Cullen Wargo (555), Spina (548) and Williams (545).

- In air rifle, Kozeniesky also garnered the Wolfpack's highest total and took first place with a 596 mark. He shot a perfect 100 on his second, third fourth and sixth series of air rifle.
- Phillips was second with a 594 score, headlined by an unblemished 100 on her final series of the event.
- Pekari earned a 585 and Ford notched a 583, while freshman Claire Zanti was the Wolfpack's final counting shooter with a tally of 582.
- The Pack earned a team score of 2358 in air rifle, while Navy fired a 2321 clip and The Citadel notched a 1659.
