NC State Opens Day 1 at Wolfpack Invitational with Singles Sweep

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team began the Wolfpack Invitational with 12 wins on day one, including a sweep in singles play.
Doubles Highlights:
All four of the Pack's doubles teams won a match during the first two rounds.
Nick Horton and Alexis Galarneau partnered together for the first time, taking down UNC-Wilmington's Gabe Hocevar and Josh Hublitz 8-6. Michael Ogden and Georgiy Malyshev eased by James Madison's Sebastian Salinas and Damon Roberts, winning 8-3 in the opening round.
In the white draw, top seeds Igor Saveljic and Sean Burnette topped JMU's Brett Moorhead and August Simonsen 8-5. Chris Mikrovas and Ivan Saveljic earned a victory in consolation play with an 8-1 win over Campbell's Fernando Clemente and Luis Monterosso.
Singles Highlights:
The Wolfpack dominated singles play with nine victories.
Paul Spencer made his Wolfpack debut, winning his match 6-3, 6-0 against Carlos Sala of Radford. Also in the white draw, Mikrovas dominated for a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Liberty's Ryker Heller.
In the red draw, Galarneau, Igor and Horton all won in straight sets. Galarneau won 6-1, 6-1 over Robin Calias of Radford for his fourth win of the season. Igor picked up his fifth win of the year with a 6-3, 6-2 win over East Carolina's Javier Renones. Horton won his fourth of the year, as he took down Salinas of James Madison with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.
The Pack closed out the day with three victories in the white draw. Malyshev defeated ECU's James Ling 6-2, 6-2, Burnette added a 6-4, 6-3 win over ECU's Will Bissett and Ivan capped off the night with a 7-5, 6-7(7), 6-0 win over Campbell's Fabien Ayet.
