Q: You grew up in New Bern, how much did you want to come to NC State after receiving your offer in high school?
A: Once I came for a visit, I saw the facilities and really liked the environment, so I knew this was the college for me. I originally committed under the previous staff, but I talked to Coach Doeren after his hiring and I knew I still wanted to be at NC State.
Q: You graduated high school early and enrolled at NC State in the spring of 2013. How much of a benefit was that to you?
A: Looking back, I think it was a great help for myself because it really helped me learn the playbook and I got used to the game speed. Coming in early also got me familiar with the college environment, both in school and in Raleigh in general.
Q: With a new offensive coordinator and quarterback this season, what are some of the differences for the wide receivers from last season?
A: I think the biggest thing is our mentality. We have a hard work mentality, and are constantly pushing each other to get better. We are doing all we can to help each other, which makes us all better. As wide receivers, we have the mentality that we can make the plays this team needs for us to win.
Q: In this offensive scheme, how important is it for wide receivers to be able to block?
A: Us as wide receivers, if you can block, you get to play. In that aspect, we are trying to help others on this offense pick up those extra yards and score. We are not a selfish group, so we gladly go out there and block.
Q: How much do you enjoy being a punt returner?
A: It is pretty fun. Honestly, when I first got here I really didn't like it so much. It switched on me though, and I love it now because I think it has gotten easier for me as I have gotten more experience back there.
Q: Last game you also returned kickoffs. What are some differences between being a punt returner and a kickoff returner?
A: When you are back there returning punts, a lot of the time you just have to make one or two guys miss and you can get that huge return. On kick returns, you have to make your reads a lot more and make sure it's the right one because those holes close pretty fast. You have to make the right read fast and hit it, because everybody is coming down so fast looking to get you.
Q: You are a sport management major. After your playing days are over, how do you see yourself using that degree?
A: With my degree, I really would like to own my own gym and get into athletic gear as well. Staying around athletics overall is probably the goal.
