Freshmen Put Up Strong Showing At VertCross Invitational

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. - After strong performances in Wisconsin, the Wolfpack continued to put up fast times at the VertCross Invitational at High Point University on Friday night. A young squad represent the Pack, including five true freshmen.
Running with The Pack
Redshirt freshman Theresa Enright, redshirt sophomore Gianna Frontera and redshirt junior Lauren Velasco represented NC State in uniform at the VertCross Invitational during the women's 6K race. Enright placed 35th with a time of 22:45.84, Frontera finished 51st in 23:08.51 and Velasco finished 58th, crossing the line in 23:19.40. Sophomore Kyle Christ was the sole men's team runner in unifrom for the 8K race. Christ ran the course in 26:20.92, finishing 57th.
Unattached Results
Freshman Anna Vess put up a strong performance, finishing 10th as an unattached runner. Vess finish her first 6k collegiate race in 21:58.68. Four freshmen from the men's side, Tim Bason, Joe Bistritz, Eric Walz and Edwin Rutto, also ran unattached for the Wolfpack. Bason led the men's team, finishing 4th overall in 25:09.67. Rutto finished close behind in 6th in 25:14.52. Bistritz finished in 13th place in 25:28.84, and Walz rounded out the Pack with a 34th place finish, stopping the clock in 25:59.64.
