Moore comes to Raleigh after one year at Michigan
RALEIGH- The NC State swimming and diving program has a recent addition to its roster, as sophomore transfer Hannah Moore joins the team. GoPack.com had the opportunity to catch up with her to get to know more about who she is.
A native of Cary, N.C., Moore transferred in the fall from Michigan, but is now eligible to compete for the Wolfpack. She will add to the Pack's depth in distance freestyle events, as well as the 400 individual medley and 200 backstroke.
At Michigan last season, she qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 500 free, 400 IM and 200 back and earned Academic All-America honors. She also tabbed second-team All-B1G honors after placing fifth in the 200 back and advancing to the consolation finals heats in two other events.
Why she chose to transfer to NC State: "I chose to come to NC State because I knew that I would finally be at a place where I could reach my athletic potential while getting a great education."
Her favorite event to compete in: "My favorite event is the 500 freestyle because it's not too short but not too long."
How she got into swimming: "I was put into the pool originally by my parents, who were both swimmers for much of their lives."
Someone that motivates her to work her hardest: "Coach Gary Taylor does a phenomenal job of inspiring me, as well as the rest of the distance swimmers, to work hard everyday. There's never a moment when he's not fully engaged in his athletes, and that's pretty special."
Her favorite song to listen to before a race: "Look at Me Now by Chris Brown!"
Her favorite thing about NC State so far: "My favorite thing so far about NC State has to be the sense of unity and passion that the swim team has, it's contagious. It feels like home."
One thing she wants to accomplish before she leaves NC State: "A dream of mine would be to one day hold an All-American trophy in my hands."
What she enjoys doing when she is not in class or practicing: "I LOVE to bake and cook from scratch and then share it with friends and family."
Her idol growing up: "Growing up, and even today, my biggest inspiration is Sarah Henry, a former swimmer at Texas A&M. She was the 2015 NCAA Champion in the 400 IM, all while majoring in physics."
What she is most excited about now that she officially a part of the program: "I am SO excited to be able to compete in the remaining dual meets and championship meets with the team and to finally help contribute what I can to the Wolfpack!"
