BLACKOUT: Pack Aiming To Recreate Last Year's Black Uniform Magic
1/5/2016 11:29:00 AM | Men's Basketball
Thursday's game vs. No. 16 Louisville is a blackout-themed contest, with fans in PNC Arena encouraged to wear black. Additionally, the Wolfpack will be getting into the act, wearing the team's alternate black Adidas uniforms.
Â
Wearing black uniforms and playing Louisville brought NC State good fortune last season, as the team wore its alternate uniforms and captured a season-changing 74-65 win at KFC Yum! Center last February.
Â
NC State entered last year's game at Louisville with a 4-7 ACC record and had lost five of six games. Behind 21 points from Cat Barber and a stifling defense that limited the ninth-ranked Cardinals to .328 shooting, NC State claimed the road win that propelled the team to a deep March run.

Â
The Wolfpack followed the win at Louisville with a rout at home over Virginia Tech and a win at UNC Chapel Hill, the team's first win at the Smith Center in 13 years. A pair of wins to close the regular season solidified the Pack's tournament resume and #PackMadness took over from there, as Mark Gottfried coached the team past LSU and Villanova into the Sweet 16.
Â
It was the program's second Sweet 16 appearance in four years under Gottfried.
Â
Coincidentally, waiting for the Wolfpack at the regional was Louisville. Although NC State led at halftime and had a 39-31 lead early in the second half, Wolfpack couldn't replicate its magic and the Pack fell 75-65 to the Cardinals to end the season.
Â
Thursday's "Pack In Black" contest with Louisville will tip at 7 p.m. at PNC Arena and will be televised on ESPN2.
