NC State’s Tab Ramos will be inducted into the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame on January 30
Wolfpack soccer great Tab Ramos will be inducted into the North Carolina Soccer Hall of Fame on January 30 at the North Raleigh Hilton.
Ramos entered the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005 and the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2012, as part of the Wolfpack's inaugural class.
"It's great to see Tab recognized again for his contributions to the game," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "His success and recognition is well deserved. NC State soccer celebrates along with Wolfpack Nation."
At State, Ramos earned All-American honors in 1985, 86, and 87. He garnered All-ACC first team mentions in each of those seasons, after a second team mention in 1984. The Wolfpack made four NCAA appearances during his career, with Ramos scoring 104 career points, 42 assists, and 31 goals.
A three-time member of the U.S. World Cup Team in 1990, 94, and 98, Ramos appeared in 81 games for the United States. Ramos continues to serve the game as head coach of the U.S. U-20 Men's National Team.
"The 2016 class is one of the strongest in history," said 2013 inductee Curt Johnson, President and General Manager of NASL's Carolina Railhawks. "It's fantastic to see my NC State teammate being honored. He's dedicated his life to growing the game of soccer in the United States. He set the standard for creative midfield play in the United States as a youth, collegiate, professional, and U.S. National Team player. There's no doubt he's one of the greats in American soccer history, and he continues to have an immense impact at the highest levels of US Soccer."
