Freshman Orientation with Blayke Hranicka

Throughout the season, GoPack.com will be introducing the freshmen on the team through a series entitled "Freshman Orientation". Talk about your experience at NC State thus far.
"I've had a really good experience at NC State so far. Everyone's been super friendly and I love the athletics environment, the volleyball environment and all of the support that we have. Our professors are awesome as well."

How did it feel to start your first career game?
"It was surreal. I've been working to play college volleyball since I was a kid, so it was pretty special to have all my dreams come true."

Talk about making the all-tournament team the past two weeks.
"I didn't think I would have this much success so fast, but I'm really happy with it and I'm excited that the team is doing so well."

What age did you start playing volleyball? And what made you start?
"I started playing volleyball in the fifth grade. We have a really good family friend that played volleyball in college and she used to send me all of her stuff, so as soon as I was old enough to try out for the team that's exactly what I did."

What made you commit to NC State and how did you hear about it?
"I love the coaching staff and North Carolina, so it was a perfect fit and great environment to spend four years. My dad grew up on the east coast and he told me that I had to reach out to NC State."

What was the first thing you owned that said NC State on it?
"A sweatshirt that I got on my official visit."

What's your favorite place on campus?
"Case because I spend a lot of time there."

What's your favorite food?
"Anything from Zoës Kitchen."

What's your favorite movie?
"Bridesmaids."

What's your favorite TV show?
"Gossip Girl."

Do you have any pregame superstitions?
"I have to do my hair the same way and then put on all my stuff in the same order."

Who's your favorite pro athlete?
"Ray Lewis."

What's on your bucket list?
"Skydiving and making history with the volleyball program at NC State."
