#PackCamp Day 3: Clean and physical

RALEIGH, N.C. - The Wolfpack football squad got another good day of work in Thursday morning, putting on shoulder pads for the first time. The team continued to work in "Thud" mode, but the addition of the pads allowed for a much more physical workout.
"Today was the first day with shoulder pads, so we were able to see some guys finish runs and finish blocks," head coach Dave Doeren said after practice. "Even though we weren't tackling, we could see more of who is finishing plays.
"I thought it was very clean. A lot of guys stayed up on their feet. It was a physical practice with great back and forth competition. It will be really good film to watch."
Notes on Day 3
Top Wolves: Today, Doren praised Jaylen Samuels for having three days in a row of good, consistent work. Jerod Fernandez also got a shout out for being "completely different in the fourth quarter than he was a year ago."
Doeren also praised some of his senior defenders. "I'm looking for consistency day in and day out and today Juston Burris, Hakim Jones and Mike Rose were very consistent. I want to see the same guy every day – that's what helps you as a coach."
Special Guest: Following practice, Doeren introduced a special visitor to the team: Coach Bill Mallory. "Coach Mal" served as head coach at Miami, Northern Illinois and Indiana, and is the Hoosiers' winningest football coach. Now retired, he was visiting the Wolfpack and his former player and assistant coach, Matt Canada.
