#PackCamp Day 10: “What’s your ‘one-more?’”

RALEIGH, N.C. - The preseason grind continued on Thursday, as the Wolfpack stuck to its routine with a two-plus hour workout at the Dail Practice Facility. The team was in full pads and held a live goalline scrimmage during the fourth quarter portion of practice.
"I thought the offense did a really nice job with their first team and the defense didn't show up in that series," head coach Dave Doeren said following the practice. "When we flipped it around, the defense came back and responded well. When we went second offense against the second defense, the second defense performed really well in the goalline segment."
During the early portion of practice, Doeren walked from field to field asking his players, "What are you getting better at today? What's your 'one-more'?" He continued to remind them of their goal of improving individually at one thing every day, so that the team improvement will be exponentially more.
Doeren said that it was great to see his third teams in live action today. "It was fun to see the threes go down the field. Freddie Simmons made a nice diving catch and it was fun to watch those guys compete at the end."
This is the first year that Doeren and his staff have had the luxury of fielding three teams at each position. "It's different for us," he continued. "We're at a point where we have three deep at most positions and a lot of them are scholarship guys, which is different too. I'm excited about the depth we've created, now we just need to get them better."
Notes on Day 10:
Coming Up: The team will be in 'half-pack' - or shorts and shoulder pads – tomorrow and then will hold its first full scrimmage on Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium.
Top Wolves: B.J. Hill made a huge play on defense in the fourth quarter, intercepting a pass and running it back for a touchdown.
"B.J. is consistent," his head coach said. "He plays hard and makes plays and is where he's supposed to be. He plays with a lot of passion and energy and he's just a very accountable guy. He came up with a huge play at the end today."
Doeren added that it's easy to forget sometimes that Hill and others like Tony Adams and Jaylen Samuels are only sophomores. "They are beyond their years because of how much they've played. They've played a lot of meaningful football in big games. "
Special Visitors: The special teams unit made a special friend a few months ago when they competed at the Caring Community Foundation's Bed Race in April. Jack Yarborough cheered hard that day for the Wolfpack group as they worked to raise money for cancer patients. Today, Jack and his dad Frank and brother Dale came out to see the specialists in action.
