Iyevbele Qualifies for Semifinals at USA Championships

Iyevbele crosses the finish line in 2:03.27
EUGENE, Ore. – Kenyetta Iyevbele finished 12th in the senior women's 800m race to qualify for the semifinals on Friday. She took sixth in the fastest heat of the night with a time of 2:03.27.
Overall, Iyevbele beat out eight sponsored athletes. In her heat, she stayed among the middle of the group. The race was close throughout the four heats, as she finished .27 ahead of the closest non qualifier.
The Charlotte, N.C., native earned her spot in the race after posting a school record time of 2:03.01 at the Portland Track Festival.

She will continue to race for a place on Team USA, as she competes in tomorrow's semifinals. Wolfpack freshman Quashawn Cunningham will also be in action as he races in the first round of the junior men's 100m race.
