Summer Golf: Ko Makes Quarterfinal Of U.S. Girls' Juniors

NC State women's golf continues to shine in tournaments in the U.S. and abroad. An incoming freshman shined in a big tournament, a recent grad earned her first pro winnings and three Pack players are finishing the Ladies European Championship. Here are a few recent updates regarding Wolfpack players:
Ko Makes A Name For Herself In Tulsa
Incoming freshman Naomi Ko defeated some top-ranked opponents to advance to the quarterfinal of the U.S. Girls Junior Championship in Tulsa, Okla. Ko defeated a highly-regarded player committed to USC before upsetting Megan Khang, the medalist at the Girls Junior Championship. Ko birdied the 14th hole to lead Khang 2-up, but Khang answered on the 16th hole to cut the lead to 1-up. Both players shot par on the final two holes as Ko won and advanced to the round of 16, where she fell to Eun Jeong Seong.

Taylor And Newcomers Playing In Ladies European Championship
Senior Rachael Taylor and incoming freshmen India Clyburn and Leonie Bettel played in the Ladies European Amateur Championship in Austria. All three players were sub-70 in the final round to climb the leaderboard. Bettel (-4) led the trio and shot a 6-under 66 in the final round to tie for 15th place in the 144-player field. Clyburn (-2) tied for 20th and Taylor (-1) placed 25th. ;
LADIES EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP SCORING
Former Pack Players Earn First Career Pro Winnings
Recent grads Ana Menendez and Lindsay McGetrick recently captured their first career earnings as professionals. Menendez, a 2013 State grad who plays most of the SunCoast Pro Tour events, placed 15th at Black Bear Country Club. She is currently (+2) and in third place heading into the final round at Mission Hills. McGetrick placed third overall and shot 1-under at Black Bear. Another Pack alumna, Vivian Tsui, played in that same tournament and tied for 11th place.
Marchand Leads NC State Alumnae At Championship Of Canada
Brittany Marchand, an amateur who is soon to officially turn pro, tied for 11th and shot 2-over to lead four NC State players at the PGA Women's Championship of Canada at the Burlington Golf and Country Club. Other players in that tournament were: Vivian Tsui (+6), Lindsay McGetrick (+7) and 2012 NC State grad Brooke Baker (+7).
