RALEIGH -- Redshirt sophomore Jackie Stengel and senior Jenna Kalwa have been selected as captains for the 2015 season, NC State women's soccer head coach Tim Santoro announced on Tuesday.
"We've had a very good leadership group over the last three semesters," Santoro said. "From this group, Jenna and Jackie have proven to be ready to take on the captain role for the program.
"This program has evolved a lot in my first 24 months and finally adding captains proves that we are developing people who want improved outcomes. Jenna and Jackie have earned this honor and they get what it takes, in all facets, to be ACC women's soccer players."
Stengel scored nine goals as a freshman in 2013, earning All-ACC Third Team and All-ACC Freshman Team honors before redshirting her sophomore (2014) season due to a knee injury. Kalwa, a transfer student-athlete from Penn State, started all 19 matches last season for the Pack, scoring one goal and distributing two assists.
The Wolfpack will begin the fall 2015 season with a home exhibition against South Carolina on Aug. 14 before officially starting the regular season at San Diego on Aug. 21.
