GREENSBORO, N.C. - Seniors Renada Davis and Emily Weiman have been named to the 2015 All-ACC First Team, while sophomore Tyler Ross garnered All-ACC Second Team honors, as announced Thursday by the conference office.
Davis becomes the first player in NC State history to collect All-ACC honors in each of her four years with the program, claiming three first team mentions and one second team nod. The Tomball, Texas, native leads the team with a batting average of .380 this season, complemented by a team-leading 63 hits.
The senior has hit 12 home runs during the year to break the ACC all-time career record for homers with her 62nd blast at Virginia Tech on April 27. She is currently seventh in career home runs among active NCAA Division I players.
In conference games, Davis had a batting average of .458, which was the third best in the league.
In the pitcher's circle, Weiman is tied for the ACC lead with 27 wins on the season. She paces the conference in strikeouts with 284, which is the sixth-most in the NCAA. A native of Pasadena, Md., Weiman has an earned run average (ERA) of 2.24, the third-best mark in the league.
She made history twice this season by becoming the program's career wins leader with her 91st victory and later became NC State's first 100-game winner. Weiman now has 104 victories to her credit, which is the second most among active Division I pitchers and fifth most in ACC history.
Davis and Weiman join Abbie Sims as the only players in NC State softball history to claim three selections to the All-ACC First Team.
Ross has compiled a .325 batting average with 54 hits to secure second team honors. She leads the team with 52 runs batted in (RBI), which is just two shy of the Wolfpack single season record. The Cameron, N.C., native is tied for the team lead with 13 home runs and has a slugging percentage of .614.
She was named ACC Player of the Week twice this season.
NC State opens play in the 2015 ACC Softball Championship at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday against Louisville. The contest will air live on Regional Sports Networks (RSN)/Watch ESPN from Tech Softball Park.
