Swimming and Diving Announces 2015-16 Captains

RALEIGH, N.C.- The NC State swimming & diving team announced its captains for the 2015-16 season at the squad's annual end of season team banquet this past weekend.
Rising juniors Natalie Labonge, Lydia Jones and Alexia Zevnik were selected to lead the women's squad, while rising seniors Jason Deana, Jacob Siar and Austin Snyder will serve as captains of the men's team.
In addition to naming the team captains, the squad also passed out its annual awards at the banquet. The 2014-15 season saw the men's program win its 25th ACC Championship title, as well as finish eighth at the 2015 NCAA Championships, while the Wolfpack women earned a 17th-place finish at the national championships.
This marked the second-straight season that both programs earned top-20 finishes at the NCAA Championships, which is a first in program history.

Belltower Freshman Award (awarded to the freshman that makes the most impressive transition and contribution to the team)
            WOMEN: Krista Duffield
            MEN: Anton Ipsen
Iron Wolf Award (awarded to the person who demonstrates strength gains, work ethic and enthusiasm in the strength and conditioning spectrum)
            WOMEN: Lauren Poli
            MEN: John Newell
Brickyard Most Improved Award (awarded to the person who has shown most improvement)
            WOMEN: Rachel Muller
            MEN: Adam Linker
Diamond Award (awarded to the person on the men's team who demonstrates work ethic, team commitment and team spirit)
            MEN: John Newell
Wolfpack Women Award (awarded to the person on the women's team who demonstrates work ethic, team commitment and team spirit)
            WOMEN: Nicole Haynes
Red Legend Pride Award (awarded to the athlete with the best performance of the year)
            WOMEN: Riki Bonnema (50 free performance at the NCAA Championship to finish top-8)
            MEN: Simonas Bilis (First man in the ACC to swim under 19 seconds in the 50 freestyle)
