FULL SCHEDULE
RALEIGH - Featuring nine home matches and a September tournament hosted in Raleigh, the 2015 schedule for the NC State women's soccer team was released on Monday. The schedule features a total of 19 matches against challenging opponents who own an average RPI of 98.
The Pack will host South Carolina (RPI 10) in an exhibition match on Aug. 14 before officially beginning the campaign on the West Coast at a tournament in San Diego. At this competition, NC State will play at San Diego (RPI 55) on Aug. 21 and against Pepperdine (RPI 12) on Aug. 23.
Included among the remainder of State's nonconference schedule is a home tournament from Sept. 4-6, during which the Pack will host Oregon (RPI 83) and William & Mary (RPI 86).
"We've got a very tough nonconference schedule again with the idea of preparing ourselves for the ACC and building a postseason resume," NC State head coach Tim Santoro said. "Games against SEC, Pac 12, and WCC teams as well as a bunch of tough regional opponents will have our young team seasoned for the ACC grind which starts the end of September."
ACC play begins on the road for the Pack (at Pittsburgh on Sept. 20), but State will play the next three league games at home against the likes of Virginia Tech (RPI 16), Boston College (RPI 45), and Virginia (RPI 5).
"Of course, ACC women's soccer is as dominant as any conference, any sport, any gender. We'll play five ACC games against teams which have been in the NCAA Final Four in the last five seasons and both the finalist and the national champion from last year. The 10 ACC games speak for themselves and we wouldn't trade them for anything."
Beginning in late October, two of State's final three games will be at home (Clemson and Louisville) and the Pack will end the regular season at local foe Duke on Sunday, Nov. 1.
