Pack Qualifies In Four National Events

RALEIGH, N.C.- The Pack will have representation in four events at the NCAA Indoor Championships onMarch 13-14in Fayetteville, Ark. Only the top 16 performers in each event in the country qualified for nationals.
On the women's side, Alexis Perry (long jump), Nicole Chavis (weight throw), and the women's distance medley relay team made up of Megan Rempel, Tiana Patillo, Kenyetta Iyevbeleand Samantha George will compete. Jonathan Addison will represent the Wolfpack men's team and will compete in the long jump.
The Pack is showing signs of yearly improvement after doubling the number qualifiers since last year.
Long Jump
Perry was the first to earn a mark during the 14-15 indoor season. She set a new indoor personal best with a jump of 21'1.50" in the long jump onJan. 17at the Virginia Tech Invitational. At the time, her mark was a tie for first inthenational standings. Going into the meet, she sits in seventh among the national standings.
Three weeks later, Addison would set the team's second national mark after jumping to a distance of 25'10.15" in the long jump. He enters nationals with the fourth-best jumpin the country and the highest rated mark of any NC State student-athlete.
DMR
In the first attempt on the season, the women's DMR team entered the national conversation with a school-record mark of 11:30.17. However, the time was still shy of national mark.
After making some changes to the rotation, the team of Rempel, Patillo, Iyevbele and George broke the school record for the second week in a row with a time of 11:11.23. The converted mark of running on a flat 200m track brought the time down to 11:04.12, which put the team in seventh place in the national polls. After the final week of qualifying, the team now sits in 10th place.
Weight Throw
With the season winding down, Chavis was ranked No. 15 in the women's weight throw. On Feb. 20 at the Virginia Tech Challenge, she launched a throw of 69'9'50" to break the school record and climb up the national standings.
Chavis further cementedher place at NCAA Indoor Championships the very next meet during the ACC Indoor Championships. Chavis broke the 70' mark to break the school record again and move into the No. 11th spot in national standings.
