Gymnastics to Compete in Final Home Meet of the Season

RALEIGH, N.C.- Following a strong showing and one of its most impressive outings of the season, the NC State gymnastics team will return to action Friday evening as it hosts is last meet of the year inside Reynolds Coliseum.
The Wolfpack will welcome conference opponent UNC-Chapel Hill, along with Kent State and Rutgers in a quad meet. Competition is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
Not only is this the last meet of the season, but the team will be honoring seniors Naomi DeVries and Lane Jarred for their accomplishments and four years of dedication to the program.

"As a program I think we're looking forward to hosting this meet. We have three quality teams coming in, and while each team has their own strengths we're all around the same level right now and are scoring the same. Therefore as far as competition goes this meet will be a great test for our team, and we want to end our last home meet of the season on a great note."- Bob Starkell, assistant coach
Last Time Out
The Pack earned its first home win of the season, as it defeated George Washington and William and Mary inside Reynolds Coliseum for its Beauty and Beast meet on Feb. 14.
NC State posted a meet score of 195.850, while the Tribe earned a mark of 194.350 and the Colonials charted a 194.125.
The squad posted season-high scores on vault, bars and floor, while notching 10 individual career-high marks on the meet.
Wolfpack in the Rankings
Brittni Watkins remains in the top 25 national rankings, as she is listed at No. 20 on vault and 23rd in the all-around competition with averages of 9.887 and 39.225, in respective order. Her all-around average gives her the third highest regional ranking and the top among EAGL competition, while her vault average puts her at No. 4 in the region and first in the conference.
Amanda Fillard and Watkins are listed at No. 2 and 3 in the conference on bars with averages of 9.817 and 9.815, in respective order.
Michaela Woodford and Lane Jarred rank sixth and eighth in the southeast region on beam with averages of 9.779 and 9.771, respectively. Their averages also put them in the top five of the EAGL polls, checking in at No. 3 and 4.
Jarred's floor average of 9.817 gives her the fifth spot among EAGL competition.
Scouting UNC-Chapel Hill
UNC-Chapel Hill will enter Friday's matchup with a 9-3 record on the season.
In its last time out, the Tar Heels fell to No. 11 Georgia by one point, as the Bulldogs earned a meet score of 196.200 and UNC-CH posted a 195.200. The Tar Heels tied Georgia on beam with a score of 48.625, while outscoring it on floor with a season high 49.150.
For the second-straight week, freshman Morgan Lane won the all-around competition with a score of 39.175.
Scouting Kent State
Kent State holds a 3-5 record on the 2015 season, posting a season-high team total of 195.325 in its last time out when it hosted Mid-American Conference opponent Central Michigan.
When it hosted Central Michgian on Feb. 15, the Golden Flashes saw freshmen Brooke Timko and Rachel Stypinski notch first place finishes. Timko tied for first on vault with a 9.850 while Stypinski earned a career-high score of 9.950 on floor and tied for first on beam with a 9.900.
Scouting Rutgers
Rutgers also scored its season-best mark in its last time out, posting a 194.450 when it hosted Maryland, Ursinus and Cornell on Feb. 14. The team took second place in the quad meet, finishing with a season-high 49.025 on floor.
The Scarlet Knights will travel to Raleigh, N.C., with a 7-7 record on the season.
