INDIANAPOLIS – Senior forward Ashley Eli of the NC State women's basketball team has been accepted as a candidate for the 2016 Allstate Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Good Works Team, the organizations announced Wednesday morning.

Eli is one of 103 nominees from WBCA members. She is joined by 154 nominees from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) members.

College sports information directors and basketball coaches across the country nominated players who exhibit exceptional leadership skills and an unwavering commitment to volunteerism. From the 103 WBCA nominees and 154 NABC nominees, distinguished voting panels will select two 10-member teams comprised of five student-athletes from the NCAA Division I level and five from NCAA Divisions II, III, and the NAIA. The final roster of 20 award recipients will be unveiled in February.

Eli was selected by a voting body of her peers as the 2014 NC State Leader of the Pack, a prestigious campus award which recognizes students who make outstanding contributions to NC State in areas of leadership, scholarship, and community service. Since the award's beginning in 2002, Eli was the first student-athlete to earn the honor.
