Team packed boxes for Operation Christmas Child on Saturday
While the football equipment staff spent part of Saturday packing for the Wolfpack's trip to the 2015 Belk Bowl, members of the team were upstairs in the players' lounge doing a different type of packing. Following practice, members of the NC State squad filled more than 100 shoeboxes to be sent overseas through the Operation Christmas Child initiative.
Â

The effort was spearheaded by the wives of the coaching staff, who worked tirelessly to gather a plethora of items for boys and girls. The wives shopped for hygiene items such as toothpaste and hairbrushes, as well as toys, school supplies and, of course, candy to fill the red and green boxes.
 Â

"It was amazing to walk in there and see all of the items they have spread out for us to pack," continued Adams. Â "I know a lot of time and effort went into it and knowing they had worked so hard made us want to participate even more."

"It felt really good being a part of a cause that gives back to kids that didn't have the same experience of getting gifts on Christmas like us," said sophomore offensive guard Tony Adams. "Christmas is about about giving, and if I could be a blessing in someone's life it can make the purpose all the better."
Senior defensive end Mike Rose said that packing a box for a child he will never meet was the "experience of a lifetime."
Â
He also claims to have packed the BEST boxes on the squad.  "This kid got the box of their life from me," he laughed.  "I packed as much in there as I possibly could."
