Parsons, Vargas Set for Hoosier Open

RALEIGH, N.C. – Sam Parsons and Luis Vargas will race in the 5,000m fast section at the Hoosier Open Friday night as they aim for early national marks. The race is slated to begin at 7:25 p.m.

Parsons is running in his first track meet since the 2013-14 indoor season, while Vargas will begin his Wolfpack career. Both are coming off successful fall seasons.

Parsons led the men's cross country tem back to the NCAA Championships and earned All-ACC and NCAA All-Southeast Region honors during the season. Vargas won the adidas XC Challenge and the Wake Forest Invitational, competing unattached. Vargas also won the Richmond 8k Road Race earlier in the fall.

The Pack is off to a quick start to the indoor season, as the team has two top national marks and five top-15 national marks.
