The Pack earned eight event wins on the day
PALO ALTO, Calif.-Â The fifth-ranked NC State men's swimming and diving team narrowly dropped its dual meet with No. 7 Stanford, 164-136, Saturday afternoon at Avery Aquatic Center.Â
The Wolfpack, earning eight event wins on the day, moves to 1-2 on the regular season while the Cardinal improve to 2-0 on the dual season.
Holloway's Statement
"I'm proud of our men. The focus, the intensity, the fight, we represented NC State well this weekend. We came back after a tough loss to Cal and were better today. The team overall had a better day but just came up short," said head coach Braden Holloway. "Today was a dog fight with a great team with a storied program. It was a back and forth battle and both teams went at it. Hats off to Ted Knapp and the Cardinal men."
"I can't say enough about the toughness of Anton Ipsen and Simonas Bilis- leaving the weekend with no losses in their individual races is impressive. We had some challenging line ups for some of these guys and they battled all the way. Justin Ress had a great weekend as well and a tough triple both days. He is freshman, but swam like a senior."
"Our men have to learn from today and this weekend. We will continue to improve, and leaving this weekend with this feeling will surely fuel our team."Â
