Wolfpack soccer awaits an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament
| Season Stats
NC State men's soccer dropped a 2-0 decision at Syracuse on Wednesday night in the first round of the ACC Tournament.
The Wolfpack (8-6-3) awaits an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. State owns the No. 27 RPI in the nation, highlighted by a 2-3-3 record against Top 25 RPIs. The Field of 48 will be announced on November 16 at 1 PM ET.
"The best part of postseason play is everyone gets a fresh start," said NC State head coach Kelly Findley. "We have some things that we need to clean up, that we aren't doing now as well as we were in the beginning of the season. This is a quality team. I know the players will do what it takes to make the next step. It will take commitment and sacrifice, but I know we are ready for the opportunity."
Syracuse (11-5-2) took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute on a free kick from 23 yards, hooked inside the left post. The Pack controlled the earlygoings, producing deep attacks twice in the first two minutes and flurries of activity just prior to the Orange goal.
State landed a pair of shots on goal during the match, but the outcome solidified in the 70th minute when an Orange run through the midfield ended with a centering pass to 20 yards, and shot lifted into the top right corner, setting the final margin at 2-0.
