NC State to play doubleheader Sunday afternoon
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team will open its fall slate this weekend when it travels to Buies Creek, N.C., to take on the Campbell Camels. Sunday's doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
Â
NC State and Campbell met during the 2015 regular season, with the Wolfpack earning a 3-1 win in Buies Creek. The second game of the doubleheader was canceled due to inclement weather.
Â
The Wolfpack began fall practice Sept. 22 and has been anxiously awaiting the start of the fall schedule. NC State will play eight exhibition games designed to give the players a chance to play in a competitive game, as well as give the coaching staff a glimpse of what they can expect from the team in the spring season.
Â
The squad welcomes four freshmen to the team for 2016, as well as a transfer student-athlete while four seniors departed due to graduation or exhausted eligibility.
Â
Last season, NC State advanced to the NCAA Super Regionals for the first time in program history after winning the NCAA Harrisonburg (Va.) Regional with a perfect 3-0 record. The Pack earned its best finish in school history in the process, as it was listed at No. 19 in both of the final top-25 polls.
