#PackMensTennis Completes Second Day of NC State Invite

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Wolfpack collected several wins on the second day of the NC State Invite, as four players from NC State continued in the competition on Saturday.
Doubles Play:
NC State concluded the doubles slate, as Michael Ogden and Ian Dempster picked up a win over William and Mary's Alec Miller and Tristan Bautil in consolation play, 8-6.
Singles Play:
Dempster advanced to the semifinals of singles play with a victory over Chris Fletcher, before he fell in the semifinals to Connor Thompson of UNC-G. In his final match, Dempster dropped the first set, but had a strong rally to send the match to a third set. The Plano, Texas, native moved out to an advantage in the tiebreak, but Thompson of UNC-G prevailed to break the deadlock and win, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6(7)
On the other side of the draw, Meparidze fell out of the main draw after a match against Georgia Sothern's Ristomatti Lanne. In consolation singles, Meparidze defeated Elon's Petar Tomic, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2.
In the grey draw, Michael Ogden gained valuable experience, playing a total of three singles matches on the day. Ogden dropped a three-set thriller in the final match to Davidson's Ricky Saad, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.
Ogden faced match point on multiple occasions, as he fellow behind 5-0 in the third set. The freshman attempted an audacious comeback, winning four-straight games to bring the match to 5-4, but Saad secured the final point to escape with a win.
Up Next:
All four Pack players will be in action tomorrow for the final singles matches of the tournament. Each student-athlete will play one singles match. Play is slated to begin at 9:00 a.m.
