Wolfpack Rifle Opens GARC Competition at Navy Saturday

NC State heads to Annapolis, Md., to compete against the Midshipmen

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State rifle team will open its Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) slate this weekend when the squad travels to Annapolis, Md., to take on the Navy Midshipmen. Competition is slated to begin at 9 a.m. inside the U.S. Naval Academy Rifle Range.

The Wolfpack enters the match with a 6-0 record on the season, after sweeping the competition at the first South Eastern Air Rifle Conference (SEARC) contest of the year. Navy is 2-0 following wins against John Jay and University of the Sciences.

Senior Daniel Cliff paced the Pack at SEARC 1 with a score of 587 in the air rifle event to finish first. Sophomore Caitlyn Ford charted a career best 586 to claim second place.

NC State finished with a team score of 4593. Navy recorded a total of 4616 in its first match and 4627 in the second match. Last season, the Wolfpack and Midshipmen met in Charleston, S.C., and Navy earned a 4641-4612 win against NC State.
