Jarred, Watkins Earn EAGL Week Three Honors

BALTIMORE, Md.- Senior Lane Jarred and junior Brittni Watkins each earned Eastern Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) honors in week three of competition in the 2015 season, as announced by the conference Wednesday.
After the team’s win at Texas Woman’s University on Jan. 25, Jarred earned EAGL Specialist of the Week while Watkins was named EAGL Gymnast of the Week.
Jarred, a Lawrenceville, N.J., native, tied for first on beam to help the team finish with a score of 49.200, which marks the fourth-highest beam score the team has posted since 2005. She also finished third on vault (9.800), tied with teammate Amanda Fillard, and earned a 9.800 on floor.
Watkins, an Albany, N.Y., native, helped the Wolfpack earn the top score in the EAGL conference this season (196.175) with her all-around performance. She finished first on vault (9.925), beam (9.850), floor (9.900) and in the all-around competition (39.525), while finishing third on bars (9.850) to help lead NC State to its road win.
Watkins’ all-around score marked a career high for the All-American and marked the third-highest individual score in program history.
NC State will compete next when it hosts UNC-Chapel Hill, West Virginia and William and Mary on Jan. 31 inside Reynolds Coliseum. Competition is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
